Hank has been my trainer for 15 years. When I began training with Hank, I was working an outrageous schedule and barely found time to exercise. I knew I needed to change my ways. I continued working long hours, but training with Hank allowed me to keep up with the extreme time demands.
Over the years, Hank has successfully trained me throughillness, injury, and poor joints. My knees have virtually no cartilage. He’s worked with me to strengthen the muscles surrounding my knees and I’m amazed at what I’m able to do now. When I dislocated my shoulder, Hank designed my workouts to enable me to get back to full range of motion and strength.
Hank’s knowledge of anatomy and exercise science is phenomenal! I can ask him about anything and if he doesn’t know the answer (which is rare), he’ll do the research and come back to me with recommendations for how to deal with the issue.

I have trained with the top trainers in the world at Athletes Performance (API) with all pro players in the nfl, all stars in the NHL, navy seals, etc. 85% of the first round draft picks in the nfl draft train at API.. I still regularly workout with many of the worlds best athletes from a variety of sports from API. I am providing this info to start my testimonial by providing a point of reference of my other training experiences.
Hank cares more about his clients than any other trainer I have ever seen. Everything from diet, cardio, strength training, endurance, and longevity. One of the main reasons he is so successful is due to his own abilities. He uniquely trains his body and mind in a way that enables him to teach and train others from his own accomplishments. There is not one thing I can do in the gym that he can't do better. He is extremely modest, and does not flaunt his own capabilities, but simply tries to utilize his knowledge to allow his clients to meet their goals. I have referred over 20 friends to hank over the last 3 years, and everyone is still an active client. He is affordable, and always gives his clients 100% of his focus on every training event. Working with Hank changed how I looked at fitness. Beyond his workouts he pushes you to maintain a healthier lifestyle outside of the gym in all areas of your life. He promotes healthy living and is always encouraging you to be "fit for life". His workouts are custom designed for your fitness goals. Every step of the way he is coaching you and pushing you to exert the most amount of energy your body will allow. After you are done with your workout you feel such a sense of accomplishment. Hank helped me lose 35 pounds in just two months. I'm not a very big guy so I didn't have a ton of weight to lose, but Hank made me realize that there is so much more to fitness than just the number on the scale. Since training with Hank I've added tremendous strength to my lifts, cut down my body fat by a large margin, and learned a ton about nutrition. I don't think I can ever go back to a non-HankFit lifestyle!
I always felt that personal trainers were a luxury but it soon became clear that having Hank was really making a difference in a relatively short space of time. He keeps me motivated and acts like a coach, consistently encouraging me and pushing me to do better. I've managed to make fitness a routine part of my life. At 21 years old, I was told that I was 40 lbs overweight and my cholesterol was sky high. Not only was this terrifying to hear, but it was a complete shock. I suppose when you're younger you don't necessarily think about how your eating habits and fitness level effect you. This certainly changed when I met Hank Rourke. What started out as a simple desire to fit in a smaller pair of jeans changed into a complete lifestyle transformation. I feel inexplicably lucky to have chosen Hank as a personal trainer because he is far more than that. Life coach, psychologist, therapist, nutritionist...you name it, Hank does it. In about 4 months I have dropped from 160lbs to 134lbs with the help of his training and support. Such positive changes are mirrored in the rest of my life. I never imagined that I would lift weights or do cardio everyday. I'm proud of myself and my body for the first time in my life. Thanks Hank for showing me how strong I can be.
I am probably one of Hank's older clients - I'm 67 and have been working out with him for 5 years. Being older, Hank is sensitive and knowledgeable about my training needs, which focus on strength, balance and flexability. His workouts are always challenging and push me a little harder each time. I love the challenge and always look forward to telling him how well I've done between our bi-weekly appointments. The other great plus to having Hank as my trainer is how he encouraged me to start running 5 years ago to increase my cardio. I've gone from 5ks to 1/2 Marathons (yes three each running season the past 2 years!) and always place within the top 3 female runners in my age category! I've never felt so good in my life, I can't remember the last time I got sick, I work out 5-6 times a week regularly, my weight and diet are excellent...what else can I say? My doctor is always impressed when I go in for an annual checkup and says I'm the healthiest patient she has! In fact, I motivated her to start exercising when she heard about my running! I have been a client of Hank's for almost four years. The words I think of to describe Hank are results driven, dependable, and caring. Hank is extremely dedicating to ensuring his client's get the results they are targeting. Whether it's through consistently changing up the workout routine, dieting recommendations, or pushing his clients do their maximum workout capacity, Hank prides himself on making sure his clients are getting what they pay for! I have always been very skeptical of “personal trainers” at gyms. I have been an athlete my entire life, competing at the collegiate and professional levels. I have always trained at an athletic performance facility, whether it was with the strength coaches in college, or widely known places like Athletes Performance, IMG Academy, etc. When your career and dreams are determined by your body’s performance, you take your training and who is in charge of it very serious. The first time I went to HankFit, I assumed I was going to breeze through it, little did I know it would be one of the most challenging workouts I have ever been through. From that point on, Hank had my trust with the investments I put into my body. He also helped me to broaden my perspective on overall health and longevity. Not only does he challenge me daily with unique workouts specific to my goals, but his knowledge on how your diet and how the human body works continue to educate me on what I thought I already knew through my years of training. Lastly, I am a firm believer of practice what you preach. There are a ton of coaches and trainers who will tell their clients what to do and how to do it but cannot perform the tasks themselves. Hank has never given me anything to do that he cannot do himself, which speaks volumes to his own ability, modesty, and work ethic. It is awesome to meet someone who genuinely cares about you as a person and not just as a client.

Hank's hands on approach is much different than many trainers you see today, even trainers in the same gym. It's common to see many trainers on cell phones, talking to other trainers or not paying much attention to their clients while they're working out - I've never even seen Hank with a cell phone. All of Hank's attention is on his clients, and it's very motivating to have a trainer backing you 100% of the way through your fitness transformation. Before training with Hank, I was opposed to doing almost any form of cardio. Months later, I find myself running/jogging Camelback Mountain, jogging Tempe town lake, and competing in outdoor activities that I would otherwise have never done.
